日本では古来より、山にも海にも森にも動物にも神性を見出し、自らも自然の一部として生きるという姿勢が根付いてきました。一方、オーストラリアの原住民族は、自然によってもたらされる「天気」を、気候・天候としてだけではなく自分たちの生活とともにある精神的存在として捉えていました。
プロジェクト「Sounds of Weather」（2011年～2012年）の目的は、音情報から環境形成への気候変動の影響を調べることです。プロジェクト最後の発表となる今回は、このような私たちの暮らしを取り囲むさまざまな存在としての「天気」に耳をすませ、そこから聴こえてきた音や見えてきたものをテーマに作品展示とライブ・パフォーマンスを行います。

From ancient times Japanese people have appreciated nature through a sense of divinity that has shaped complex ways of perceiving and living with the natural environment. The indigenous people of Australia understand their environment as a physical reality underscored by a deep spiritual dimension, which informs a significant component of their dreamtime mythology.
The "Sounds of Weather" project (2011-2012), a cross-cultural collaboration between RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia) and Musashino Art University (Tokyo, Japan), investigates ways in which weather events and conditions transform urban and natural environments. We listen to and look at the weather as a presence that surrounds and immerses us, one that deeply impacts our daily lives.
This concluding event will be used to present artworks generated from different iterations of the project that spans the metropolises of Tokyo and Melbourne, and the rugged terrain of the Australian Alps and The Kimberley.
